Medicine Department
Department of Medicine, Swami Dayanand Hospital, Delhi, is one of the largest departments in the hospital. The department serves patients with a wide range of medical illnesses by providing quality, affordable, and patient-centered healthcare services.
The department comprises experienced physicians, medical officers, residents, nursing staff, technicians, and multipurpose workers committed to evidence-based medical care and ethical practice.
The department is actively involved in medical education and research through postgraduate (DNB) and residency training programs aimed at developing advanced clinical skills and professional ethics.
The department has a 50-bedded indoor facility including reserved beds for geriatric patients. Forty-five beds are equipped with oxygen points and suction apparatus.
A 10-bedded High Dependency Unit (HDU) is available for patients requiring closer monitoring. Oxygen cylinders, wheelchairs, and stretchers are also available for patient transport.
Procedure cubicles are available in both male and female wards for procedures such as ascitic tapping and pleural tapping.

Patients are seen in OPD Rooms 410, 412, 415, 416, 417, 418, and 419 located on the 4th floor of the OPD Block.
The department also has a seminar room with LED projector, audio system, internet facility, and access to digital library resources.

Out Patient Department
The OPD attendance is among the highest in the hospital. OPD services are available on the 4th floor of the OPD building from 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM.
Cardiac Clinic
Cardiac Clinic is conducted every Wednesday from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM for patients with hypertension and cardiac diseases.
Diabetic Clinic
Diabetic Clinic is conducted every Thursday from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM with patient counselling, investigations, and management of diabetic complications.
Emergency Services
Emergency medical care is provided 24×7 in casualty and ICU under the supervision of senior physicians.
Indoor Patients
The department has 50 beds in Wards 4 and 9 and provides consultation to ICU and referred cases.

DOTS Centre
DOTS Centre for diagnosis and treatment of tuberculosis operates under departmental supervision.
Malaria Clinic
Malaria Clinic functions for surveillance, diagnosis, and free treatment of malaria patients.
The department has actively contributed to the management and surveillance of communicable diseases including dengue, malaria, cholera, chikungunya, swine flu, and typhoid.
The department successfully managed COVID-19 services during the pandemic with dedicated medical, nursing, and support staff teams.
The department regularly organizes seminars, lectures, workshops, CMEs, conferences, and public health awareness programs for doctors, paramedical staff, and the general public.
DNB postgraduate studies in General Medicine started in 2016. The department provides structured teaching, research activities, and academic training as per DNB guidelines.
ECG training is provided by the department for a duration of six months for students in each batch.
